Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected along the Mogollon Rim this afternoon with additional development over Gila County into southeast Arizona this evening. The primary concern with any thunderstorm will be strong, gusty winds. For areas mainly to the east of Phoenix, there is up to a 50% chance for winds to exceed 35 mph and a 5% chance for winds to exceed 58 mph. Due to the extensive storm activity seen last evening, the chances for showers and storms into the south-central AZ lower deserts, including the Phoenix area, will be significantly lower (10-20% chance). However, gusty outflow winds up to around 35 mph will be more possible in the Phoenix area this evening.
