Notably cooler temperatures will settle into Iowa through the weekend. Skies should clear later tonight with high pressure settling into the Missouri Valley. This will keep our forecast dry, but also allow for overnight lows to dip into the upper 20s to mid 30s for several days. This could very well lead to frost or freezing conditions over much of the state during the early morning hours through the weekend. Frost Advisories and Freeze Warnings have already been issued for much of the state tonight, with additional advisories and warnings likely Friday and Saturday nights. It will be breezy over the north half of Iowa Friday afternoon, with west to northwest winds gusting 30 to 40 mph. Highs into the weekend should be in the upper 40s and 50s. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
